Students have been asked to create a Rube Goldberg style "machine" and draw a picture and explain how it works using their best science vocabulary. It must use at least 3 simple machines. We have watched videos and discussed various machines in class.
Students are very excited and eager to begin. I told them it can be as complicated as the machines from the videos if they like, but it can certainly be much simpler. They were told they can discuss there project with parents/siblings but they should be doing all the drawing or writing on their own.
Students will share their machines orally in class. Please ensure they are returned by their English day on June 4 or 5. Earlier is fine too!
This is also a good opportunity to practice for the simple machines test that will be next week!
Below is the YouTube Channel for Rube Goldberg for some sample videos. It's always a good idea to preview them prior to students watching them for ads and content. I have not watched them all myself. The Honda ad we watched in class is a good slow example of a machine in action.
